About the Atrium

ABOUT THE ATRIUM

"An Atrium is a place for learning about the conditioned mind, which has brought us to the state of unparalleled conflict and devastation that we experience in the world today. An Atrium is a place with an atmosphere of affection where people can explore together, without judgment, the conditioned attitudes and preconceived ideas which bring about conflict."

— Jean Webster-Doyle
Founder and President of the Atrium Society

THE ATRIUM

The Atrium Society® is concerned with fundamental issues that prevent understanding and cooperation in human affairs. Our minds are conditioned by origin of birth, education and experiences. Atrium Society's intent is to bring the issue of conditioning, and the tremendous conflict conditioning creates, to the forefront of awareness and consideration. The resources presented herein are elements of a comprehensive program of books, audio/video tapes, teach training workshops, community events such as the "International Children's Disarmament Day"", a worldwide book donation project, Youth Peace Literacy and seminars designed to address the primary, secondary and tertiary causes of conflict.

THE CHALLENGE FOR EDUCATION IN THE 21ST CENTURY

"The most vital and urgent challenge facing humankind is to understand and resolve conflict in relationship. For centuries, we have accepted conflict, and the violence it creates, as an inevitable part of the human condition. We must challenge this attitude. We must educate ourselves about the source, nature, and structure of conflict, to recognize how we have sustained it through conditioned thinking and action. It is now time in the evolution of the human race to address this concern with our full attention and capabilities." Dr. Terrence Webster-Doyle, Director of Education, Atrium Society.
